What are the differences
between the JBM20, AV120/140 and AV320/340?
- First, the last two digits (20 or 40) is the size of the HD in gigs.
- The JBM20 is first Generation. It has a small screen and a slow CPU
- All the AVs have a faster CPU
- The 300 seriese have much bigger screens.
- The AVs will all come supporing USB2 standard (no special cable needed).
What will the faster CPU in the AVxxx series get me?
Basically, the faster CPU means it can play back and record higher-res DivX.
- The JBM20 has VHS quality playback and webcam quality recording (<15fps).
- The AVs should have near-DVD quality playback and VHS quality recording.
What are the differences between the Modules for the JBM20 and the
AVs?
- The AV3x0 will have a 3.x megapixel camera with optical zoom (a huge improvement
over the current camera). There MAY be a better camera module for the AV1x0
seriese, but we haven't seen it yet.
- At least SOME modules will only work with the correct seriese. The DVR mod
for example will have a JBM20 and an AV1x0 version - the right mod must be
used with the right Archos.
- We don't know about the Camera or Photo modules. Since both have some serious
problems, one can hope they'll come out with new ones for the new AV1x0 seriese.
- As for mods for the AV3x0 seriese... Well, the camera is obviously designed
to fit the new design and won't fit anything else. Other mods we just don't
know yet.
