The PMA400 (formerly AV500) has been officially announced! Shouldn't be long now! The first PDA with a HD + Video playback and recording!

Below are all the juicy details I can scrounge up. Many of my sources are not in English. You can use Altavista Babel Fish or Google's translation service to translate.

Here is all the info I have so far on the PMA400 (formerly AV500):

  • Officially announced on Archos.com!
  • Built-in WiFi
  • LCD: 3.5" 320 x 240 16-bit-color touch-screen
  • Media: 20g / 30g (no CF slot)
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, WMA-DRM, WAV
  • OS: QTopia (Linux!)
  • Video Playback: Mpeg4 Simple Profile (looks like we still get no Advanced Simple Profile), at DVD resolution!
  • Video Recording: 512x384@30fps (built-in, no DVR needed - same as AV400)
  • Audio Recording: MP3 or WAV
  • Games: QTopia and Mophun games
  • Weight: 280g
  • Battery Life: 4 hours playing Video, 9.5 hours playing Audio
  • Unconfirmed rumores:
    • OS Resolution: 320x240
  • Notes:
    • USB Host as well as slave (you can no connect a keyboard, camera, other Archos AV, and more)
    • Docking station (included) with Tv tuning
    • Applications: Web browser, E-Mail, Calendar, Text Editor and Calculator
    • Full OS / 3rd party applications possible
    • Built in Mic and Speaker
    • Removable Battery
    • NO CF slot, though
